Hi, my name is Jason and I’m a graphic designer and photographer from Essex Junction, Vermont.
With an AS in Graphics Multimedia & Web Design, a BA in graphic design, and 6+ years of industry-standard graphic design training, I am more than qualified to take the reins on any project. Package design and branding are my jam but I’m always looking to diversify my knowledge and skills. I believe that graphic design should be intentional, and so in addition to just looking good, a special effort is made to ensure that there’s meaning behind my work and that everything I create accurately holds true to its intended purpose, this is backed by extensive research and planning. Additionally, I’m fluent in geometric design and obsessively meticulous. I like clean-cut and minimal design, but that doesn’t mean I’m afraid to step outside that zone and explore further creative styles.
The COVID-19 pandemic negatively affected almost everyone in some way or another. Amidst the chaos of quarantine, however, I had ample time to find my new passion for photography and practice obsessively. I live and breathe design, but out of the darkness came another way for me to channel my creative energy. My mornings were spent watching tutorials and gathering inspiration, days were spent running around outside with my camera, and my evenings saw lots of editing. After two years of honing my skills, I have seen new places, met new people, worked with brands, and digitally captured more memories than I’d like to count. Through photography, I have found a new part of myself.
When I’m not designing or practicing my photography, you'd probably find me exploring a mountain top somewhere. As a native Vermonter, few things excite me more than the thought of adventure or exploring a new place. I love hopping in the car and seeing where I end up, whether that be a dirt road in the middle of nowhere or a bustling New England town. Cloudy days, cold-brew coffee and lighthouses are my love language. I'm a food lover, especially when it comes to Mexican! Nothing can make me cry tears of joy like a heaping plate of nachos. I also enjoy rock climbing, listening to music (Alternative, rock, metal... you name it!), and visiting with friends. Same as anyone, I like and dislike many things, but nothing is more important to me than staying true to myself.
"I was consistently impressed with Jason's attitude and productivity during the time that he worked at the RRPC. Jason was always reliable and resourceful, and during his time on my team was able to work effectively with others to create graphic content which the organization will use for years."
- Edward Bove, Executive Director of the Rutland Regional Planning Commission
"Jason has consistently demonstrated a strong work ethic and the ability to think critically. The design industry is very challenging and it requires a person who is willing to build upon criticism. Jason has always been an active participant during our class critiques, and he is very supportive of his peers."
- John Szymkowicz, Graphic Design Professor
"Jason is a go-to designer in the Design Studio. His technical knowledge with software applications, digital asset management, workflow and client interaction are exemplary."
- Tracy Brown, Design Instructor
"I’ve noticed that Jason’s leadership style is by example because he sets a high standard for himself and greets every project with a strive for perfection. As a result, his classmates are often driven to work harder than they would in his absence in order to meet these standards."
- Ariana Hausmann, Classmate
