The Castleton Content Lab (CCL) is a graphic design club at Castleton University, that uses industry-standard tools and techniques to assist local clients big and small with all their design and media-related needs. We take a very collaborative approach on all our projects, letting everyone's voice and opinions be heard, as well as voting on who gets to operate the software on a given workday.
The recent war on Ukraine has turned the lives of countless civilians upside down. Ukrainians are losing their houses, their belongings... their loved ones. It's the kind of thing you don't want to believe is real, but it is and people are suffering.
As American citizens, we have it pretty good but that's no excuse not to help in any way we can, and as graphic designers, it's our duty to use our abilities for good, to help the voices of those in need be heard. So when someone around the Castleton University campus requested a poster design to promote a fundraiser for Ukranians, we knew that our only option was to accept. This was also a fun excuse to try out the graphic design application Canva, which we used to design the following poser.
The poster design is big and bold. With the heavy font choices and the bright colors of the Ukranian flag, it catches the attention of anyone walking by. We researched possible imagery to further represent Ukranian culture and came up with a painted egg design known as Pysanky, which Ukranians traditionally used to decorate their homes with.
